Medicine Bow Fuel & Power Holds Community Meetings
Houston, TX – Representatives from Medicine Bow Fuel & Power held a series of meetings in Wyoming recently to discuss a proposed coal-to-liquids facility in Carbon County. Medicine Bow Fuel & Power, a subsidiary of DKRW Advanced Fuels, is developing the facility approximately 13 miles south of the town of Medicine Bow. Groundbreaking for the 13,100 barrel-per-day plant is anticipated for early 2008 with a commercial operation date scheduled for early 2011.
The Medicine Bow project has secured an option with Arch Coal, Inc. to purchase coal reserves in the area; the mine would be managed by Arch. Sinclair Oil Corporation has agreed to purchase 100 percent of the ultra low sulfur diesel, the primary product produced by the plant, and sell it in the Rocky Mountain Region.
Filings for necessary permits and applications are underway, and the meetings were held in conjunction with the Industrial Siting Application (ISA) Process. Local and state agency officials were able to attend informational meetings with company representatives and contractors in Rawlins, Laramie and Cheyenne, and the public was invited out to evening community meetings in Rawlins and Laramie to receive the same project overview.
The presentation and project materials from the ISA meetings can be found on the DKRW Advanced Fuels website (http://www.dkrwaf.com/fw/main/Medicine_Bow-111.html).
DKRW Advanced Fuels is a development-state hydrocarbon conversion company. We are focused on the commercial development, construction, ownership and operation of facilities designed to convert lower-value hydrocarbons into products that traditionally have been produced by crude oil. By utilizing proven coal gasification and liquefaction technologies, we plan to convert more abundant resources, primarily solid hydrocarbons such as coal, into competitively priced products, including ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel.
Our initial project is a coal-to-liquids facility at the mouth of the Saddleback Hills Mine in Carbon County, Wyoming. We are also pursuing projects in other parts of the U.S. and exploring international opportunities. DKRW Advanced Fuels is a subsidiary of DKRW Energy LLC. Other shareholders include Arch Coal, Inc. (NYSE: ACI), the second largest-coal producer in the U.S. and Och-Ziff Capital Management, a New York-based private equity firm.
